Parents, Students, Patrons and Staff:

The Hardin-Central C-2 School District will be extending the self-imposed suspension through April 26, 2020, in preparedness and prevention of the COVID-19 virus.  It is a very good possibility that this suspension extends far longer than that date.  All district activities during this suspension will be canceled.  We have undertaken and are continuing a “deep cleaning” of our classrooms and facility to ensure safety of students and staff upon their return to school.

We will continue to offer our food service delivery via bus routes to students who wish to participate during the length of the suspension.

During this suspension, our teachers will be delivering alternative methods of instruction.  Our teaching staff will be using a wide variety and creative ways to continue teaching and learning through the closure.  The district will attempt to provide learning resources and devices to families who are in need.  More particular details will be sent out by building personnel soon.

At this point in time, every school district in the state of Missouri is closed.  School Boards and school administrators are making the best decisions they can in this precarious situation.  The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has not provided details or direction on mandating closures nor have they offered information regarding making up lost days for school districts.  DESE has already issued a statement that statewide testing for this spring has been canceled.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Sincerely,

Trey Cavanah

Superintendent

Hardin-Central School District
