About Our District

Welcome to Hardin-Central C-2 School District. Over the years, our district has combined with several neighboring schools to form the district we are today. Because of this, we are proud of our “Strength in Numbers.”

Hardin-Central C2

February 13, 2019

Parents and Community Members:

It has been a rough winter at Hardin-Central this year.  So far, we have missed nine school days due to winter weather conditions and the forecasts are predicting more severe weather in the days to come as I type.  In an effort to keep consistency and recover some of these missed school days, the Hardin-Central C-2 School Board has voted to amend the 2018-2019 school calendar to be in session on the following dates:

Monday- February 18,  Monday- April 22,  Tuesday- April 23

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released the results of the 2018 Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Assessments, as well as the Annual Performance Report (APR) for each school district for Missouri in January.  Although our district has seen a steady increase in performance for both these criteria in the last few years, we took a step back in our performance with these latest results for the 2017-2018 school year.  Our Annual Performance Report for this spring was 89.7%, down from 94.6% the year before.  For many districts across the state, arguments can be made on why this has occurred, but the way I look at it, we simply underperformed as a district in several of these measured academic areas.  As the district’s instructional and financial leader, I take ownership in the decreased scores and have already started to reevaluate many of our instructional practices and procedures for the improvement of academics at Hardin-Central.  In the next few months, you will see an emphasis being made of student monitoring and progress as well as new developmental assessment programs moving into the 2019-2020 school year in August.  Our goal is to continue to educate strong academic learners, and adopt best academic practices for teaching and learning.

I have appreciated the continued community and school support as we have updated facilities this past year, and created new student programs along with our traditional activities and athletics.  I am proud to be part of the district and will work hard to improve on our academic performance for our current and future students.  The staff and administration at Hardin-Central are dedicated professionals who understand academic expectations and will strive to improve our district’s performance as measured by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Sincerely,

Trey Cavanah
